Leo, where did you learn to battle like that?

Hi everybody!

Let me tell you a story of a young man who once went to cinema to watch a movie he knew nothing about, except for the fact that one of his favourite actors was starring in it.

Yeah, as you might have already guessed, that man was me, and that actor was no-one else but the famous dream intruder, midget throwing stockbroker Leonardo DiCaprio!

The movie I’m talking about is called “One Battle After Another”.

I don’t know why but looking at the poster, I got an impression that they were gonna be riding horses and fighting with swords or some old pistols. They weren’t.

As it turned out, the movie was about a group of modern day revolutionaries fighting against corrupt government officials. Well, my vision was close. I love my imagination.

I went to cinema straight after work, a bit tired and hoping to unwind and have a good time.

I gotta admit that what I saw was quite an unusual piece of entertainment.

In the beginning I wasn’t really into it, there were moments when I thought this was gonna be a bummer (and a long bummer, because the movie is about 3 hours long).

Luckily, the story started getting uphill moments later and soon I was totally soaked in.

Till the very end it was unpredictable to me what was gonna happen and I absolutely love the way the screenplay was written. At moments it had me thinking “oh, here comes a total cliché” but I ended up being proven wrong every time.

There were funny moments like that too, one of them still puts a smile to my face long after the screening, and you’ll know what I’m talking about once you see the movie.

What totally got my attention and stuck with me even after the screening was the intriguing music chosen to accompany the fates of the main characters.

What else can I say? Incredible acting. Leo never disappoints me. There was this one scene when I said to myself “wow, what a magnificent performance”. Of course this was not the only scene like that.

There was this other guy I knew that I know from somewhere but I couldn’t remember his name. Luckily when the credits rolled out, I found out it’s Benicio del Toro. The character he portrayed is definitely one of the strongest pillars of this movie.

All in all, quite a unique piece I must say. Truthfully I cannot say it was a groundbreaking experience or anything like that.

I do recommend you go see it yourself though. The unusual convention, the dark humor, the unpredictability – all of these accounted for an enjoyable experience.

That’s all for today, thank you guys for reading. Let me know in the comments if you loved this movie or it wasn’t really your cup of tea. Have a nice day and till the next one.
